Breakdown of LB Jordan Hicks and LB Devin Bush contracts with the Browns

Image Photo by Frank Jansky/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images What has Cleveland committed to their two new linebackers? The Cleveland Browns added two linebackers in free agency with the signing of Jordan Hicks and Devin Bush. That comes after the departures of Anthony Walker and Sione Takitaki, although Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is still in the mix. Let’s take a look at the contracts that Hicks and Bush agreed to:
  • Hicks signed a two-year deal worth $8 million. He has $4.5 million in fully guaranteed money.
  • His base salary in 2024 of $1.21 million, and his $3.29 million signing bonus, combine to form his guaranteed money. His signing bonus is spread out over five years, of which three of them are void years.
  • Hicks is due a $1 million roster bonus in 2025 if he is on the team on the third day of the league year.
  • Hicks’ contract would void in 2026, forcing the team to have a dead cap hit of $1.974 million on his deal.
  • Bush signed a one-year deal worth $1.5 million.
  • His base salary is $1.125 million, with $125,000 of that being fully guaranteed. When you combine that with his $375,000 signing bonus, he has $500,000 in guaranteed money.
  • Even though Cleveland figures to need the depth at linebacker in 2024 still, Bush’s deal is nothing outrageous that they can’t get away from, in the event he doesn’t seem like a good fit this offseason.
