Buffalo Bills Later Round Needs; And Who Could Be Available

The Buffalo Bills are scheduled to pick nine times in Rounds 4-7. Of course, it’s unlikely they make all their selections when 11 rookies aren’t making this roster, so we’ll see some trades on Days 1 & 2. But, with everyone fascinated by what the Bills do during Round 1, the mid-late round Bills selections aren’t getting talked about enough. Let’s take a look at some positions they could draft, and what players there fit the Bills team. Braelon Allen, RB, Wisconsin The Buffalo Bills met with the enormous Badgers RB at the combine earlier this offseason, as Muki Hawkins reported. With RB depth lacking, the Bills could look for a power back to complement James Cook and Ty Johnson, neither of whom are bruisers. Last year, Allen totaled 984 yards and 12 TDs on 181 attempts, good enough for a 5.4 YAC average. Allen is still only 20 years old, and the Bills could have their version of Derrick Henry for years to come. The Bills have tried to find an RB through free agency to compliment James Cook, but to no avail. From Leonard Fournette to Damien Harris, nothing has worked out quite as the Bills had hoped. Drafting Allen insures the Bills get a younger RB without as much tread on the tires, and can keep their backfield fresh through the season. Deantre Prince, CB, Ole Miss CB is a sneaky need for the Bills. After releasing Tre White, and Dane Jackson going to Carolina in free agency, Buffalo’s CB depth that they had last year is gone. Their boundary corners currently consist of Rasul Douglas, Christian Benford, Kaiir Elam, Kyron Brown, and Ja’Marcus Ingram. Unfortunately for Buffalo, they only have three starting-caliber players there. While they don’t need to draft for a starting role, acquiring some more depth there wouldn’t hurt, either. Prince totaled 36 tackles, one INT, and five passes defended last year at Ole Miss. He’d figure to be CB4 on the Bills depth chart right off the bat, and will grow into a good backup/average starter in the league. Joe Milton, QB, Tennessee The Bills finally solidify the backup QB position (hopefully) for the future. Drafting Milton and letting him grow this year behind Allen and Trubisky would be a blessing for the Bills down the road, as they have somebody behind Allen with similar traits, and don’t have to go into each off-season looking for a new backup who might be expensive. Milton has a rocket for an arm and great mobility, much like Allen. However, he just needs a year to refine his touch and accuracy on the deep ball. Allowing him to be QB3 without the risk of seeing him on the field will serve quite well for his development. Last year, Milton totaled 2,813 yards, 20 TDs, and five INTs with the Volunteers. Expect Milton to be a late Day 3 pick, possibly going in Round 6 or 7. If the #Bills take a QB in the late rounds this year, it HAS to be Joe Milton. Arm strength, size, and mobility of Josh Allen. If you’re trying to draft a QB with the same skillset as Josh, it’s only Joe Milton.— Names Bryce (@BillsByBryce) March 2, 2024 Overview With these picks, the Buffalo Bills are able to find a bruiser in the backfield that they have been scouring free agency for, land a developmental CB, and possibly Josh Allen’s backup for the long haul. Brandon Beane has done so much work already to WR, OL, and the DL, that they will be able to look at other positions in the draft now.
