Bills News: Bills free agent Dane Jackson agrees to terms with Panthers

The Buffalo Bills are now expected to lose the services of cornerback Dane Jackson. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Jackson has signed a two-year deal with the Carolina Panthers. It’s reported worth up to $14.5 million with incentives. The 27-year-old Jackson was a seventh-round pick of the Bills in 2020. At that time, Carolina general manager Dan Morgan was working in Buffalo’s front office. Jackson’s deal comes less than 24 hours after the Panthers traded No. 2 cornerback Donte Jackson to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for wideout Diontae Johnson. In 52 career games, Jackson has posted 152 total tackles, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three interceptions and 28 passes defended. He earned a 71.6 coverage grade from Pro Football Focus this past season, which stands as the highest mark of his career. Jackson was a pending free agent. His reported departure comes following the Bills’ decisions to release All-Pro defensive backs Jordan Poyer and Tre’Davious White. In addition, safety Micah Hyde is also a pending free agent. Without Jackson, Rasul Douglas and Christian Benford are slated to be Buffalo’s starting outside cornerbacks. Follow Bills Wire’s free agency tracker for all updates throughout the coming days.
