Bills News: Jordan Poyer joins AFC East rival Dolphins after Bills departure

Jordan Poyer has jumped ship to a place some believed he was going to land a year ago at this time. The former Buffalo Bills safety has signed with an AFC East rival, the Miami Dolphins, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. It is reported to be a one-year deal. Last week, the former All-Pro safety was released by the Bills. Buffalo’s salary cap situation made keeping Poyer on the roster more difficult because cutting him freed $5.7 million in salary cap space. A year ago, Poyer was a free agent and ended up re-signing in Buffalo. Prior to that, Poyer said during an interview he would not be against playing for the Dolphins at that time as he cited friendships he has in Miami, the weather, and lower taxes. The 32-year-old has spent the majority of his career in Buffalo. He originally signed with the team in 2017, the same offseason teammate Micah Hyde did. Poyer and Hyde built a reputation as one of the best safety tandems in the NFL but will be no more. On top of Poyer’s departure, Hyde is a pending free agent. Poyer finished his Bills career with 22 interceptions. He’ll get at least two games next year in AFC East play to add to his totals against Buffalo and quarterback Josh Allen.
