The Chicago Bears made another move at center, agreeing to terms with former Los Angeles Rams offensive lineman Coleman Shelton on a one-year deal.Shelton, an undrafted free agent in 2018, started all 17 games at center for the Los Angeles Rams last season. He started all 13 games he appeared in during the 2022 season, where he split time between left guard, center and right guard. In 2023, Shelton allowed 34 QB pressures, 2.0 sacks, 11 hits and 21 hurries. This is the second offensive line move the Bears have made this offseason. They previously agreed to terms on a trade for Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Ryan Bates. Shelton and Bates are expected to compete for the starting center job, but it also doesn’t rule out Chicago targeting a center in the NFL draft. As you can imagine, there was plenty of reaction among fans now that the Bears went out and added a center in free agency. While it’s another bargain signing for general manager Ryan Poles, Shelton is someone who’s a quality starting center that the roster was missing. Here’s how Twitter is reacting to the Bears signing Shelton:
