The Chicago Bears were shocked that the 2024 NFL Draft fell perfectly for them

Plenty of cameras at Halas Hall chronicling their path to the draft. The Chicago Bears' most recent 1920 Football Drive dropped on Thursday, and this one was a must-see. It goes in-depth into their draft process, starting with the scouting staff sharing the predraft intel they gathered about Caleb Williams, both on and off the field. It really dispels some of the silly rumors swirling about Williams in the months leading up to the draft and sheds light on how Chicago’s scouting staff vetted him and ranked him as a prospect. “He will eventually be a top-five QB in the league.“ ~ Francis Saint Paul Sr. National Scout It also made it appear that Rome Odunze, who grew up a Bears fan, was their preferred number two option all along. The tension in the draft room as the Chargers, Giants, and Titans picked ahead of them, and then when the Falcons took a quarterback at eight, allowing Odunze to become a Bear, was an incredible moment the camera captured. General manager Ryan Poles and the other Bears personnel in the room couldn’t believe Odunze fell into their laps. “Shane, you okay with this?” Poles jokingly asked his offensive coordinator, Shane Waldron, about them taking Odunze. “Is it too much for you?” “We didn’t have to give up anything,” Poles said about staying put at nine for Rome. “Number one and number two player, though,” assistant GM Ian Cunningham said to Poles. “Unbelievable,” Poles replied while shaking his head. There’s some postdraft stuff about the Williams-Odunze 1-2 punch before heading back into the draft room for their next three draft picks. This is their best 1920 Football Drive yet, so check it out here.
