Film study: New Bears DL Jamree Kromah an explosive, versatile UDFA

Image Andrew Dieb-USA TODAY Sports WCG’s lead draft analyst breaks down one of Chicago’s newest UDFAs. The Chicago Bears have signed James Madison defensive lineman Jamree Kromah as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft. Kromah started off his collegiate career at Rutgers, but it was when he transferred to James Madison that he really took off. His 2023 campaign was tremendous, having finished the season with 10.0 sacks, 19.5 tackles for a loss, and a forced fumble. A first-team All-Sun Belt member in 2023, Kromah is a versatile defensive lineman who lined up all over the place for the Dukes. Though he likely projects best as an interior defender at the next level, he’s more than capable of producing as an edge rusher, as well. He earned an invitation to the Shrine Bowl in the pre-draft process and was seen by the consensus as one of the top prospects to come out of the Sun Belt in the 2024 class. I took to Kromah’s tape to break down what he does best and analyze what he might bring to the Bears. THREAD: The #Bears signed an athletic tweener with great production in James Madison DL Jamree Kromah.— Jacob Infante (@jacobinfante24) April 28, 2024 Kromah’s at his best rushing up the middle, but he’s athletic enough to get it done off the edge, too.

At 277 pounds, he converts speed to power well rushing as an EDGE with insane 35 1/4-inch arm length. #Bears pic.twitter.com/DslRehgDRx— Jacob Infante (@jacobinfante24) April 28, 2024 Kromah’s explosiveness makes him a threat as a 3-technique DT.

He’s quick off the ball with very good athletic ability as a pursuit defender in space, which helps him as a pass rusher and in the run game. #Bears pic.twitter.com/6jHol8cmqL— Jacob Infante (@jacobinfante24) April 28, 2024 Kromah does a good job of working off of blocks to make plays in the run game, and it also helps as a pass rusher.

He dominated the Sun Belt in 2023 with 10 sacks and 19.5 TFL. #Bears pic.twitter.com/EIqo5Jls5c— Jacob Infante (@jacobinfante24) April 28, 2024 Here’s Jamree Kromah’s RAS score. He’ll need to bulk up if he’s playing DT in the pros, but the athleticism is absurd.

With his speed and production, I’m surprised he didn’t get drafted. #Bears pic.twitter.com/dGoSpUPzM5— Jacob Infante (@jacobinfante24) April 28, 2024 I think Jamree Kromah is a practice squad player for the #Bears in 2024, but there’s potential for him to be more than that in the future.

He’s a tweener but has impressive pass-rushing value up the middle and DL versatility. His training camp should be fun to watch.— Jacob Infante (@jacobinfante24) April 28, 2024
