Bears News; Bears CB Jaylon Johnson named to All-Pro Second Team

Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson was named to The AP’s All-Pro Second Team following an impressive 2023 regular season. Johnson, a former second-round pick, has had a career year with the Bears this season. He established himself as one of the NFL’s best cover corners. Johnson totaled a career-high four interceptions, 36 tackles and 10 pass breakups in 14 games. Johnson also garnered his first Pro Bowl nod this year, alongside teammate Montez Sweat. There’s been plenty of speculation about Johnson’s future in Chicago beyond this season, but general manager Ryan Poles expressed confidence that Johnson will be back in 2024. “Jaylon’s not going to go anywhere,” Poles said Wednesday. The Bears could use the franchise tag on Johnson, which would pay him the average of the top five salaries at his position, projected to be in the $18.41 million range according to Over The Cap. But the ideal outcome is both sides will be able to agree to terms on a long-term deal to keep the 24-year old cornerback in Chicago for the long haul.
