Former Buffs Xavier Smith, Chase Sowell respond to drama

Former Colorado football players Xavier Smith and Chase Sowell have received a massive amount of national attention this week for their comments in The Athletic (subscription required). Smith and Sowell, both members of the Buffs’ one-win team in 2022, spoke on how they were essentially forced out of Colorado’s program following the arrival of head coach Deion Sanders. While this story is far from breaking news, Smith and Sowell’s criticism of Coach Prime sparked reactions from several current Buffs players, including quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Let’s not forget that Coach Prime inherited one of the worst teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
