Image Steven Walter- Penn State Athletics Say that three times fast! Softball The softball team took the first two games of its weekend series with Michigan State (10-0, 6-3) before dropping the third game (6-2). The Lions suffered a two-game midweek sweep at the hands of Ohio State. Penn State fell behind by as many as 11 runs in Game 1, and despite the bats waking up later on, a rally fell far short in a 16-8 loss. Both offenses were much quieter in Game 2, with Gabby Garcia driving in PSU’s only run of the game in the first inning. The Buckeyes tied it in the sixth walked it off in the seventh to sweep Penn State. Penn State will look to rebound against Wisconsin in a three-game set this weekend. All three games will be broadcast on Big Ten Plus. Men’s Lacrosse The lacrosse team snapped its two-game losing streak with a resounding 14-8 win over Michigan last Saturday. Jack Fracyon made a career-high 19 saves in the win to continue his outstanding junior season. TJ Malone added five goals and two assists for the offense in arguably the team’s most complete game of the season. Penn State will take on Rutgers in the regular season finale Friday at 6pm. The game will be broadcast on Big Ten Network. Men’s Volleyball The men’s volleyball team clinched the EIVA regular season title with a 3-2, 3-1 sweep over George Mason last weekend. Luke Snyder had 41 assists in Game 2 to pace the offense. Penn State then defeated Harvard 3-1 in the EIVA semifinals last night behind EIVA Player of the Year John Kerr’s 31 kills and three aces. The Nittany Lions will face George Mason in the EIVA championship Saturday at 7pm. The winner will receive the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
