Wizards Player Questions Road Fans Taking Over Home Arena

Image(Photo by Scott Taetsch/Getty Images)   The Washington Wizards faced off against the New York Knicks on Friday night and it didn’t go well for them. The Knicks made easy work of the Wizards and beat them 120-99. During the game, it was very clear that fans of the Knicks had traveled down from New York City to cheer on their favorite squad and that didn’t sit well with Wizards player Deny Avdija. “Gets me angry sometimes, honestly. Playing in your city and having the whole stadium cheering ‘Let’s Go Knicks,'” he revealed after the game, according to a video shared by Neil Dalal. “This stadium needs to chant ‘Let’s Go DC’, that’s how it needs to be,” Avdija added. Deni Avdija not a fan of road fans taking over Cap One "Gets me angry sometimes, honestly. Playing in your city and having the whole stadium cheering ‘Let’s Go Knicks’ … Not something you’ll see in Europe … This stadium needs to chant ‘Let’s Go DC’, that’s how it needs to be." pic.twitter.com/IcfdU5BBNh — Neil Dalal (@NeilDalal96) November 18, 2023 Avdija had a strong game on Friday, scoring 18 points in the team’s tenth loss of the season. But even with that performance at home, he was still subjected to the cheers of Knicks fans and he didn’t like it. This is Avdija’s fourth year in the NBA and that means that he has learned the Knicks have one of the most intense and loyal fanbases around. Some of them are willing to travel hundreds upon hundreds of miles to root for their team. Therefore, a short drive or train ride to Washington, D.C. isn’t a big deal at all if that means they get to see their squad succeed. Avdija said that he wants the city to be a place that is proud to celebrate and support the Wizards but they haven’t given D.C. a reason to be happy so far this season. They now have a 2-10 record and have underperformed in a number of ways. There was some hope that the new energy of the team could lead them in a good direction this season. But it’s clear that the Wizards have a lot of problems that still need serious attention. The post Wizards Player Questions Road Fans Taking Over Home Arena appeared first on The Cold Wire.
