He was sent to the Washington Wizards to take as many shots as he could handle on a non-contending team, and that seemed perfect for his style of play. He even stated that he was ‘all set’ financially after signing that contract with the Golden State Warriors and that no one could take his ring away from him, so he was happy about being able to play his brand of basketball in the nation’s capital. However, Poole is averaging roughly over 16 points on 41% from the floor and 30% from deep, so it’s not like his brand of basketball has been worth watching. That’s why former NBA champion Paul Pierce took to Twitter to talk about his struggles, pointing out how difficult it can get when the scouting report focuses on you. He was supposed to take the reins of this team, yet he’s not even their primary ball-handler; Tyus Jones is. His decision-making has always been subpar, and his shot-selection has been erratic. The Warriors gave up on Poole for financial reasons, but they’ve also taken multiple shots at him since he left for not being mature or coachable, and both things are surfacing in Washington as well. He’s even taking fewer shots than he did last season with the Warriors, so so much for those predictions about him being an All-Star or anything like that. But hey, at least he’s getting paid.
