The winning streak continues to elude the Washington Wizards, who still have yet to win consecutive games this season. The Wiz lost 129-118 Friday against the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center. The Wizards got off to a strong start in San Francisco. Kyle Kuzma poured in a quick 7 points to help give Washington the lead for most of the 1st quarter. However, the Warriors took a 26-25 advantage thanks to a Moses Moody reverse layup at the :46 mark. Corey Kispert and former Warrior Jordan Poole led the way in the 2nd quarter. The two combined for 19 points in Q2 to pace the Wizards’ offense. Poole led Washington at the half with 14 points, while Kispert added 13 off the bench to help keep the game close. But the 3rd quarter belonged to Stephen Curry. After a Daniel Gafford game-tying dunk to open the 2nd half, Golden State took control the rest of the way. They outscored Washington 38-22 in the quarter, thanks in large part to a three-point barrage from Curry. The 2-time MVP dropped 27 points in the 2nd and 3rd quarters to tilt the game in his team’s favor. A 4th-quarter comeback was not in the cards as the Wizards trailed by double figures the rest of the way. Poole led the Wizards with 25 points, albeit on 7-of-21 shooting. Kispert flanked him with 18 of D.C.’s 50 bench points. Kuzma was held scoreless after his 7-point first quarter. He exited the contest with right knee soreness in the third and did not return. Update: Kyle Kuzma is now out for the remainder of tonight's game. https://t.co/qkEGMU6Cnh— Washington Wizards (@WashWizards) December 23, 2023 The Wizards head home to host the Orlando Magic at 7 a.m. ET the day after Christmas.
