Warriors-Clippers mini-preview: How the two teams stack up in terms of offensive and defensive efficiency

Image Photo by Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images It’ll be their first meeting of the season. The Golden State Warriors — sans Chris Paul, who was diagnosed with a lower left leg nerve contusion (day-to-day), and Gary Payton II, who was diagnosed with a torn right calf (out indefinitely) — are set to face the Los Angeles Clippers in Chase Center for a Pacific Division showdown. Both the Warriors and the Clippers are out of the In-Season Tournament. The Warriors (8-10) are looking to bounce back after losing a nailbiter to the Sacramento Kings. The Clippers (8-9) are on the second night of a back-to-back after walloping the Kings last night, 131-117. After losing the first five games of the James Harden era, and looking quite lost in the process, the Clippers have won five of their last seven games, and are starting to look the part of a team that could potentially make noise in the Western Conference. The Warriors, of course, have done the opposite, winning just two of their last 10 games after opening the year 6-2. Here’s how they match up in terms of efficiency metrics. Offensive rating (half-court offensive rating)
  • Warriors: 114.4, 16th (96.8, 18th)
  • Clippers: 114.0, 17th (99.0, 13th)
Defensive rating (half-court defensive rating)
  • Warriors: 114.1, 16th (99.7, 22nd)
  • Clippers: 109.7, 4th (90.7, 2nd)
Injury report
  • Warriors: Chris Paul - out (left lower leg nerve contusion); Gary Payton II - out (right calf strain); Usman Garuba - out (right finger dislocation
  • Clippers: n/a
