Open Thread: Eastern Conference Play-In kicks off tonight

Image Photo by Issac Baldizon/NBAE via Getty Images Time to send one team on vacation The Eastern Conference Play-in begins tonight at 6:00 p.m. with the 7th/8th matchup featuring the Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat. Philly was higher in the standings a few weeks ago, but injury to reigning league MVP Joel Embiid caused them to slip over the last quarter of the season. I’d expect that a healthy Philly would easily eliminate any 8th seed, unless, of course, that 8th seed is Miami. It has become the stuff of lore to undervalue the Heat, but we all know you can never count out Jimmy Buckets. This should be a great game. The second — and more Thunderdomesque game — at 8:30 features the Chicago Bulls and the Atlanta Hawks. Many Spurs fans begun to embrace the idea of a disgruntled Trae Young pushing for a trade to get himself to San Antonio. If this is still the preferred outcome, a Bulls win stirs the pot. Who are you rooting for in these two games? Loser of the first plays winner of the second on Friday, so we’ll be checking back in. Welcome to the Thread.
