Open Thread: Newfound appreciation for the Play-in games

Image Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images The playoff picture will not solidify until the last game has been played True, the Spurs season officially ends later this afternoon, but basketball in general is pretty interesting. The play-in games incorporating the seventh through tenth seeds, along with the tightness of the upper teams, has really kept the league from locking down seeding early enough to make the final games of the season insignificant. Point in case, the reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets lost the number one seed and home court advantage at the hands of the Spurs just two nights ago. Locking in the top spot earlier could have led to key players like Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic to be benched. Instead, fans were treated to an energetic and exciting game with a photo finish.Starting next week, we’ll take a look at matchups for the play-in, the playoffs, and beyond. The Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks will fight for the chance to push into the postseason. meanwhile, in the Western Conference, the seeding for the play-in is still being determined. So many teams with multiple fates, and the fun is just about to begin. Let’s start with this- now that the Spurs are done, will you be rooting for anyone in particular to go the distance and be crowned the 2024 NBA Champions? Welcome to the Thread.
