Clowney posted his fifth double-double of the G League season with 18 points and 12 rebounds in addition to three assists, one steal and four blocks in 36 minutes.

Long Island has completed its Winter Showcase schedule and will return to Nassau Coliseum Wednesday. Johnson, who at 21 is the third youngest player on the Nets roster after Dariq Whitehead and Clowney, has been on a roll lately with Jalen Wilson in Brooklyn. In his last five games, the Tennessee product is averaging 23.8 points while hitting 42.3% from deep. The hyper athletic Johnson, who has 77 games of NBA experience with the Clippers and Blazers, is also averaging 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.0 steals during the stretch. Long Island [point guard Kennedy Chandler notched his second double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 assists in 35 minutes.

Additionally, Nets guard Kyler Edwards tallied his first double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds in 32 minutes. Whitehead played only 4:43 minutes, but a Long Island insider assured our Jordan Greene that the 19-year-old was not injured. Whitehead has been limited in his return from two ankle surgeries over the past 15 months, not playing more than 23 minutes nor in back-to-backs. Long Island jumped out to an early lead against Iowa in the first quarter, as they shot 45.8 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from behind the arc. The Nets closed the first period ahead by seven, 32-25. Long Island’s momentum carried over into the second quarter, outscoring Iowa 35-30 in the quarter on 60.9 percent shooting from the field while outrebounding the Wolves 15-6. The Nets went into halftime ahead by 12, 67-55. The Wolves attempted to claw back into the game during the third quarter, but the Nets remained steady. Long Island closed the period ahead by 10, 92-82. Long Island carried its effort into the final period of play, led by Johnson’s 11 points in the fourth quarter. The Nets went on to defeat the Wolves by 10, 115-105. While on assignment with Iowa, Minnesota forward Josh Minott and Timberwolves two-way guard Daishen Nix recorded 21 points each in 31 and 38 minutes, respectively. Iowa guard Trevor Keels posted 15 points and four rebounds in 29 minutes. Long Island will begin the regular season at home against Wisconsin on Wednesday, Dec. 27, at 5:00 p.m. ET.
