Stats Rundown: 4 stats to know from the Mavericks 116-111 loss to the Clippers

Image Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports The Mavericks fought hard but came up short The Dallas Mavericks fell to the Los Angeles Clippers 116-111. This ties the first round series at two games a piece. The Mavericks came out and virtually every thing went wrong. This culminated in the Mavericks trailing 55-24. The Mavericks realized the game had in fact started then and fought back incredibly hard with Kyrie Irving going on a dazzling individual scoring run. The Mavericks even managed to take a lead, but they simply ran out of gas and could mot finish. Here are the stats to know. 40: Points scored by Kyrie Irving Irving was brilliant. In a game where Luka Doncic was hampered by knee pain and an inability to make shots, the Mavericks needed Irving to pick up the slack. He did everything he could but was just a hair short of being able to make up the deficit. His pristine shooting was only marred by seven turnovers, as the best ball handler in history inexplicably lost control of the ball on multiple occasions. 33: Points scored by Paul George, James Harden The Mavericks gained control of this series with a dominating defense. The Clippers clawed their way back in by their remaining stars puncturing that defense. Both have had spotty playoff histories, but they were incredible tonight. The Mavericks will have to find an answer for them going forward because Kawhi Leonard likely isn’t coming back to take the ball out of their hands again. 90: Minutes played by Doncic, Irving The Mavericks have to find a way to let the superstars steal some rest. Dante Exum has been unplayable in this series and Josh Green has been used as a small forward. It is difficult to find a way to do so, but the Mavericks will have to find a way to rest their stars without getting played off the court. latest podcast episode in the player embedded below, and to make sure you don’t miss a single one moving forward, subscribe to the Pod Maverick podcast feed on Apple, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Pandora, Pocketcasts, YouTube, YouTube Podcasts, Amazon Music, Castbox.
