Report: Kevin Huerter will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery

ImageKevin Huerter has not returned to action since going down in the first quarter of Monday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies and, as recently announced, will undergo season-ending surgery. Sacramento lost their starting shooting guard on what looked like a routine swipe down from Desmond Bane in transition. In the meantime, Keon Ellis has been filling his role and finding ways to contribute, but limited depth is always trouble as the postseason nears. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Kevin Huerter will not be returning during the 2023-24 NBA season as he plans to undergo surgery on his shoulder. Sacramento Kings guard Kevin Huerter will undergo season-ending left shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum, Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tells ESPN. Huerter is expected to be fully recovered for the start of the 2024-2025 season. pic.twitter.com/coLqxvIHhR — Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) March 29, 2024 As mentioned, Ellis has been filling the starting spot left open in the absence of Kevin Huerter, but his unavailability increases the offensive responsibility of others. Huerter’s spacing is missed out there, and there is a smaller margin of error from Malik Monk, Harrison Barnes, and Keegan Murray in maintaining their high-caliber offensive production around De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis. When is the next Sacramento Kings game? Sacramento and Dallas will take two days off before returning to the table on Friday for another important playoff-implications matchup at Golden 1 Center.
