Jazz News: Utah Jazz vs Detroit Pistons: Jazz tries to avoid major upset

Image Photo by Jason Miller/Getty Images The Jazz look to win a trap game versus the Pistons. After losing to a short-handed Cleveland Cavaliers, the Utah Jazz hope to bounce on the second night of a back-to-back against the lowly Detroit Pistons. Losers of 24 straight assignments, to say that the Pistons are eager to finally snag a win is an understatement. So for a team that holds a 2-13 record on the road (only the Pistons have a worse record lol), it’s a must to not replicate their performance last night – to take away any hope Detroit has in snapping the losing streak today. Looking at the general numbers, both squads belong in the lower echelon on both offensive and defensive rating, with the Jazz holding a slim advantage. But what’s encouraging for the Jazz is that their offense is on the upward trend in the last five games, which ranked 19th overall – an improvement from 26th for the year. Defense continues to be a concern for the Jazz, especially last game. They let the Cavaliers hit 23 threes on 45.1% shooting efficiency. Going up against the worst shooting team in the league in Detroit might make the aforementioned concern a non-factor, but it’s worth keeping an eye on how the Jazz can use this game for reps to better themselves defensively with the likes of Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, and former Jazzman Bojan Bogdanovic. Game Info When: December 21 - 6:00 PM MT Where: Little Caesars Arena, Detroit, Michigan Watch/Stream at: Jazz+, KJZZ Listen at: KSL 1160 AM & 102.7 FM
