Despite having one of the most promising rosters in the league and a very good coach, this team can’t seem to get over the hump, and they’re reportedly considering a fire sale. And while most reports claimed that Trae Young would be the only player the Hawks would never consider trading, it seems like he doesn’t feel the same way about his team. According to a report by Matt Moore of the Action Network, Young’s camp would welcome a move to the San Antonio Spurs to play with Victor Wembanyama if the opportunity presented itself. Young, while raised in Oklahoma, has always talked about his Texan heritage, so this might not be much of a surprise. The former Sooner has shown his frustration with losing at Atlanta, so going to one of the worst teams in the league might not make the most sense right now. Then again, a tandem of Young and Wembanyama plus whoever the Spurs get with another top-5 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft could change the equation, not to mention the fact that they’d had plenty of cap space and two stars to recruit free agents, plus arguably the greatest coach in basketball history.
