Image(Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)   Not so long ago, the Atlanta Hawks and San Antonio Spurs made a huge trade to alter both franchises. He was traded for Danilo Gallinari and three first-round picks. Now, just over a year later, it seems like Gregg Popovich would love a redo. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Spurs want to trade for Murray again (via Run It Back & The Dunk Central). Nonetheless, it’s more than evident that the pairing with Trae Young in Atlanta hasn’t been as good as advertised. They were supposed to cancel each other’s flaws out, as Murray was an elite backcourt defender but not a great shooter, and vice versa. However, Murray’s defense took a massive bump since leaving Texas, and the Hawks continue to flirt with .500 basketball. The Los Angeles Lakers are also reportedly interested in making a run at Murray, and with the Hawks struggling to stay afloat in the postseason race, they would be wise to at least entertain the idea of moving on from him. The Spurs have been the second-worst team in the league, and it’s evident that they need a true point guard, so this makes perfect sense. Whether they’ll be willing to part ways with the assets it would take to send him back to San Antonio remains to be seen.
