Despite having Trae Young as the primary superstar of the team, the Hawks have struggled to win games consistently this season. Keeping that in mind, it’s only obvious that many are urging the franchise to make a few moves around the NBA Trade Deadline to bolster the roster and give the team a chance to battle for a playoff spot in the second half of the regular season. With that being said, as per Jake Fischer via Ball Don’t Lie on Twitter, the Hawks are open to trading away two key veterans on the roster. Trade talk has been minimal at the G League Winter Showcase, but the Hawks have indicated they'd be willing to move Clint Capela and/or De'Andre Hunter, per @JakeLFischer

As for their stats, Capela is averaging 11.7 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game for the Hawks this season. On the other hand, Hunter is putting up 14.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game for the Atlanta Hawks during the 2023-24 NBA season. Despite the two players putting up somewhat acceptable numbers, the Hawks need better players in their position. After all, as of now, the Hawks are just 12-16 as they hold the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference. Considering the fierce competition in the Eastern Conference this season, it’s the right time for the Hawks to make a trade in order to improve the quality of their roster.
