Image(Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)   The Los Angeles Lakers aren’t good enough to win an actual NBA championship this season, and LeBron James knows it. The star forward was boiling with frustration after their loss to the Boston Celtics on Christmas Day, and he admitted that they’re not in a position to win a ring right now. We’ve seen this M.O. by LeBron at least a dozen times in his 20-year career in the league, and that means Rob Pelinka is going to have to work overtime to try and overhaul the roster — again — midseason. With that in mind, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that people need to keep an eye on the Atlanta Hawks and Dejounte Murray, adding that he makes financial sense for the team in the long term (via Run It Back). "One more player to keep an eye on I'm told, a potential target for the Lakers, Hawks guard Dejounte Murray."@ShamsCharania on potential trade targets for the Lakers. Not really helpful in Atlanta. — keenanvictor (@KeenanVictor) December 26, 2023 Y’all in here saying that’s not an upgrade clearly doesn’t know or watch basketball Dejounte is better than any guard they have currently on their roster. Stop focusing solely on shooting he’s a playmaker a hell of a defender and can shoot as well. And he’s consistent — Black Rob (@BRFromTheMitten) December 26, 2023 They have nothing to trade. — Are the Wolves still in first? (@Stewcat2006) December 26, 2023 An actual current contender will make a better offer before we can get him — Dutch Hofstetter (@mambadutch) December 26, 2023 Then again, Charania also says that the Lakers would most likely have to give up Austin Reaves and Max Christie in any potential deal to strengthen their roster, which is something they’ve been reluctant to do. Either way, the Lakers might not be able to call the shots in any negotiation, so a big move would most likely mean that Reaves would have to be on the move, with Rui Hachimura as another potential trade candidate. Charania also said that Zach LaVine will continue to draw interest from the Lakers but they need to see him back on the court first, as he’s been nursing an injury for weeks now. As for Murray, he’s an elite defender and playmaker, but perhaps he won’t provide the spacing a team needs around LeBron and Anthony Davis.
