Nets Interested in Trading Into 2024 NBA Draft

As reported by our SBNation sister site Nets Daily, Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks has been eyeing the 2024 NBA Draft. During media availability, Marks expressed interest in trading into the draft if they feel a prospect has dropped into the right position. As Nets Daily notes, Marks has traded into a draft in six different years of his eight-year run as general manager. The Portland Trail Blazers could be a candidate for a trade, as they have multiple draft picks and are watching for opportunities to bring in talented players. While we won’t know Portland’s actual pick positions until the NBA Draft Lottery, their own pick could land anywhere from first to eighth. They also own the Golden State Warriors’ pick as long as it doesn’t land in the top four in the lottery. It has a 96.6% chance of being the 14th pick. Portland doesn’t own their own second-round pick, also owns two other picks via trade: Charlotte’s second round pick (likely the 34th pick) and Atlanta’s pick (40th). Sean Marks has a history with the Portland Trail Blazers: He signed with Portland in November 2010 as a last-minute replacement for the retiring Fabricio Oberto, and played his last NBA game with the team. He played in 29 games as a Blazer before being included in a midseason trade package to Charlotte for Gerald Wallace. He was waived after the trade and retired.
