Nick Nurse seeing Tyrese Maxey progress in 2 key areas for Sixers

PHILADELPHIA — For the Philadelphia 76ers to get to where they want to go in the 2023-24 season, they will need Tyrese Maxey to continue to progress as quickly as he has thus far.Maxey has taken leaps and bounds forward as he’s averaging 25.7 points, 6.6 assists, and 3.6 rebounds while shooting 44.8% from the floor and 37.3% from deep. Philadelphia has benefited greatly from his continued ability to improve on the offensive end and he has also taken steps forward in two other key areas.Coach Nick Nurse has constantly challenged Maxey to take steps forward on defense and has done so at a respectable level. He isn’t a turnstile on defense anymore as he has understood where to be when fighting over screens and staying in front of opponents. He has been tougher on that end and in the post and Nurse explained his defensive improvement.
