Assistant Rico Hines becoming important voice within Sixers' organization

PHILADELPHIA — It’s Dec. 6 in Washington D.C. as the Philadelphia 76ers are getting set to take on the Wizards on the road. Young KJ Martin is going through his pregame workout and he misses a few 3-pointers in a row.Martin got on himself as he began to get frustrated with the amount of misses he was putting up. Assistant coach Rico Hines then came over to Martin, gave him words of encouragement, gave him some instruction, and then Martin knocked down jumper after jumper.That is the influence of Hines. A basketball lifer who was an assistant with coach Nick Nurse and the Toronto Raptors before following Nurse to Philadelphia. He also runs the famous “Rico Hines runs” at UCLA over the summer where NBA players convene in order to work on their games and listen to the wise words Hines tells them to help them accelerate their games and move forward.When considering the number of Sixers players who attend those runs in the summer combined with Hines now being in Philadelphia, it’s no wonder why his voice is becoming an important one within the organization.
