Sixers' Nick Nurse gives update on Joel Embiid after tweaking knee

CAMDEN, N.J.–The Philadelphia 76ers received a bit of a scare on Friday late in their win over the Atlanta Hawks. Joel Embiid drove down the lane, landed awkwardly, then grabbed at his knee a bit, and limped for a short period of time. Embiid did finish the game and had 38 points and 14 rebounds in the win, but as the Sixers move forward, there is always some concern about the reigning league MVP. After a day off on Saturday, the Sixers got back to work on Sunday in preparation to take on the Washington Wizards on Monday. Coach Nick Nurse gave a positive update on the big fella. “He was out there today (Sunday),” said Nurse. “He looked pretty good. I think that they’re still TBD in the listing of the game here. I think they’re going to do some more stuff here. See how he out of practice, but he was he was out there and doing OK.” In terms of his participation, Embiid was able to participate in a lot of practice. He missed warm-ups, but Nurse explained that it was because he needed to get some work done before the session. “He was,” Nurse said of Embiid’s full participation. “He only had to do a little work to get prepped for it and that was in the weight room. So we did that and that was just during our kind of warm-ups, but after that, he was a participant.” The Sixers will take on the Wizards on Monday at home.
