Have the Sixers Lost the Fans?

The Sixers are finishing up an offseason that has felt like an entirety.  Since the Sixers last took the court on May 14 in Boston, a lot has changed. They let go of Doc Rivers, made many questionable roster decisions, and have dealt with all the drama surrounding James Harden. For the first time in a long time, it seems as though nobody is excited about the upcoming Sixers season, and it’s not very surprising. With the Phillies primed to make the postseason, the Eagles being a betting favorite to make another Super Bowl, and the Flyers finally having a front office that the fans believe in, the Sixers have fallen by the wayside.  It is well known that the Sixers have failed to make it past the second round of the playoffs, but there is little to no hope to see them change that in the foreseeable future. The Sixers have traded away the majority of their draft capital and have put together a team with an average age of almost 28 years old for this upcoming season.  While the future certainly has a lot to do with the displeasure surrounding the team, it also has a lot to do with the Harden situation For the second time in three years, the Sixers have a big name who is adamant about wanting to be traded out of town. While this could certainly turn into a larger discussion about the power that the players have in the NBA, it is no coincidence that this has happened not once but twice to this current Sixers team.  If the players do not believe in the front office to put together a team that can win, why should the fans?  Truth be told, it is unclear what the Sixers can do to get back in the good graces of the fanbase, but they still must try to win, and even though it probably won’t work, they are trying.
