Gavin Lux on Track to Be ‘Full Go’ for Opening Day, Says Dodgers GM

Image The 2023 Dodgers were missing a few key pieces from years past. One of those was infielder Gavin Lux, who suffered a torn ACL during Spring Training. Lux was on track to become the everyday shortstop for the Dodgers before the injury, but he has been rehabbing since to make his return. The Dodgers view Lux very highly, and the former top prospect is expected to be the shortstop for this coming year. While there is always a concern anytime a player is coming off a brutal injury, the front office seems to believe that Lux will be able to regain his form. Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes appeared on “The Show” podcast and gave a major update on the status of Lux. “Luxy is progressing very well,” Gomes said, “so he’s on track to go out and be ready to be full go come Opening Day.” Per Brandon Gomes via “The Show” podcast If the Dodgers can indeed get Lux back, it will be a welcome sight for everyone involved. He showed promise in his last appearance with the team, and they were very excited to see how he performed over an entire season. In 2022, Lux appeared in 129 games for the Dodgers. He slashed .276/.346/.745 with six home runs and 42 runs batted in. Lux showed improvement in his bat skills, and his increased speed helped him when getting on base. “Gavin’s on pace to be full go and looking really good and feeling good. Still have Miggy behind him who’s gonna play a bunch all over the infield.” Per Brandon Gomes via “The Show” podcast Alongside Lux for the shortstop position will be Miguel Rojas and Chris Taylor. Both players have plenty of experience playing the position and can help ease him back into form. With the amount of firepower that the Dodgers have in their lineup, they won’t need a massive season from Lux. If he can just be himself, and produce for the team, it will be seen as a win. Lux has to prove that he can stay healthy and that he is still the promising player that he was before the injury. Based on how the front office has spoken about him, we could be looking at a great season from the young infielder.
